I Always Wanted to Have My Own Radio Show and the Internet Now Makes It Possible
I thought it would be cool to be able to start an Internet radio station. I have always wanted to be a DJ, but work has taken me along a different path. I still maintain a strong interest in my favorite music genres. I do have an eclectic type of taste in music, but it does coalesce into a style that has a mass appeal. I like a blend of genres that overlap one another. I see the roots of one genre in the music of another. And with all of these evolving music styles, there are specific artists who lead the way in establishing new trends in music. I would like to share this knowledge with other people so they can hear it for themselves.
I think this is a wonderful premise to start an Internet radio station. I do not have any idea how commercially viable it would be as far as generating any revenue is concerned, but I do know that it would be fun to produce. I just needed an online source that made it easy to run your own radio station over the Internet. Obviously I needed a place to store the Mp3 files as well as letting me do live voice introductions as the music plays. Being able to make a show and upload it for later broadcast would also be good. This way I could have a show at the same time regardless of what I happen to be doing when the time slot rolls around. I do have to keep my day job.
I think for every kid who listens to the radio and likes music is to have a dream of some day being the DJ of his or her own show. It is probably the most realistic dream to have too nowadays too. This is true because the software and Internet capabilities of broadband open up the possibility of being your own radio show host to just about anyone who has a whim to do it.
